The city government consists of a mayor and five city councilmen. Council meetings are the first Monday of each month at 7:00pm. The city supplies, electricity, water, and sewer services. If you are moving to Summerfield, stop by city hall to get your utilities connected. The trash pickup is done by a private company but the charge appears on the city utility bills.

The City Park has had a recent revamping. Local fundraisers and a large grant made it possible to update the playground equipment, bury the electric wires, install brand new basketball courts and a lot more.

This lake is 135 acres in size and is used exclusively for fishing, No boat speeds over 5 mph on the lake so no jet skis or water skiing allowed. Anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass and Yellow Perch. A Nebraska fishing license is required. Prairie chicken booming grounds are 100 yards from the lake. Free camping is available below the dam. The lake is 17 miles by paved road.

Gregg offers guided and unguided hunts on our private land for upland game birds, turkeys, and white tail deer. Dogs can be furnished or you are welcome to bring your own. Come and experience some of the best hunting in the United States.


Pawnee Prairie Wildlife Management Area 3 miles north of the State Line on Hwy 99, then east 1 mile on an all-season gravel road. There are two other access points also.

Pawnee Prairie is state owned land, open to the public for outdoor recreation, including hunting and fishing. A Nebraska hunting or fishing license is required. The consists of 1,021 acres of native prairie, restored prairie, timber, and small plots of row crops for deer. There are several fishing ponds too.

All Season Route: 3 miles north of Summerfield on Hwy 99, 4 miles west on Hwy 8, and 2 miles south on gravel roads.

The drive to Mission Creek Cemetery is five miles by gravel and dirt roads from Summerfield. Take the all-season route suggested to the left if in doubt about the condition of the roads. This cemetery dates to the early days of the settlement of this area by pioneers.

St Bridget Cemetery is a “country cemetery”. It is situated along a good all weather gravel road that is the scenic route between Summerfield and Axtell. It sits about half a mile south and half a mile east of St Bridget church. The cemetery dates to 1862.
